Using my husband's poem, this laser-cut stacked paper pendant is sewn bound like a book and meant to be read. Unlike a book, this poem begins on the bottom page and finishes on the top page. It is not meant to be easily read as I have prioritized text as texture, so I have shared the poem below.  The font used is on my own design.

Fretful night, I'm pondering.
In sleepless hours I try,
but my mind keeps wandering
through memories darkly revived.
That awkward conversation
between the past and future,
patterns without cessation
a wound, bleeding, no suture.

Unlike daily distractions
Night's no friend to sight.
There's learning, not retraction.
For this I wake: Fretful night.
